Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
