The Reason this Democratic Party Has Concealed their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: The Inside Story.

The move by the DNC to suppress the publication of its internal autopsy report on the 2024 election seems shocking but entirely predictable. Opposed to hard truths, the DNC often functions closer to a communications shop rather than an electoral entity committed to building local power for winning elections.

A Culture That Avoids Dissent

Hesitant to break with the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the DNC has continued under that legacy all through this past year. Making public such a report might have shown whether party leaders truly desire to foster public discourse regarding the strategic failures that enabled Donald Trump to win re-election. However, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there are no lessons to understand following the stunning loss of 2024.

Our guiding principle: will this lead to victory? If the answer is no, it becomes a sideline issue from the core mission," a justification reportedly given for withholding the report.

Major Failures an Autopsy Might Have Explored

Any valuable post-mortem with any value would confront key points of failure. Among them are:

  • Voter Alienation: Losing among a significant portion of the electorate who supported the party's candidate during the previous election proved pivotal in the close 2024 election.
  • The Decision to Seek Re-election: The determined choice of a party leader to stay in the race, alongside a last-minute step-aside, is viewed as denying Democratic voters the chance for a genuine choice.
  • Abandoning the Working-Class Base: Amid economic anxiety, the campaign reportedly accommodating elite contributors and not managing to confront the impact of corporate greed.
  • A Foreign Policy Factor: An unwillingness to adjust a stance concerning a ongoing war allegedly caused alienating many voters, notably with young people, Arab-Americans, Muslim voters.
  • A Decline in Young Voter Support: Extensive evidence shows a major decline of votes for the candidate among young voters.

A Record Avoiding Accountability

This refusal aligns with a longstanding habit of evading uncomfortable facts. It echoes a dynamic in which virtually every elected Democrat in Washington went along with an incumbent's insistence on running for re-election until a poor televised debate forced a reversal.

Concurrently, a significant majority of the electorate were consistently telling pollsters that they opposed that candidate to seek re-election.

Campaign Spending Concerns

A substantive autopsy could examine matters regarding where money went, such as how much money flowed to party strategists and media firms during an electoral effort that managed to spend an enormous sum over a few months.

The Larger Problem

Ultimately, the suppression regarding the analysis highlights an allegiance to the established hierarchy responsible for a disastrous national race. The message to ordinary supporters – which includes millions of loyal volunteers – is that they do not have a right to know the lessons party chiefs have learned based on an analysis compiled from extensive interviews.

A political entity unwilling to honestly assess its mistakes finds it difficult to escape the pattern which was so beneficial to the winning candidate.
