Vinted Members Share Anger Over Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
